Wright State dismisses Billy Donlon as coach

Men's College Basketball, Wright St Raiders

Wright State has parted ways with coach Billy Donlon after six seasons, the school announced Friday.

Donlon, 39, compiled a 109-94 record during his time with the Raiders, including a 22-13 mark this season as Wright State defeated Valparaiso twice this season and made a run to the Horizon League title game.

The Raiders made one College Basketball Invitational and one CollegeInsider.com tournament appearance under Donlon.

"This was a exhaustive evaluation over a six year period and really boiled down to my expectation for where our men's basketball program should be," Wright State AD Bob Grant said in a statement. "And where we are right now.

"My vision is we are a top 100 program in the nation. We're making appearances in the NCAA and NIT and we're beating ranked teams, getting those little gold nuggets for our fan base."

Donlon was the associate head coach at Wright State for four seasons under Brad Brownell. He also spent four seasons with Brownell at UNC Wilmington.
