Santa Clara has hired former Arizona State coach Herb Sendek, the school announced Tuesday.
Sources told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that it was a six-year deal.
Sendek will be officially introduced at a news conference on Wednesday. He replaces Kerry Keating, who was fired earlier this month after nine seasons at the school.
"We're thrilled to bring Coach Sendek into the Santa Clara University family,'' athletic director Renee Baumgartner said. ``He's a veteran coach and a proven winner who has been successful at the highest levels of college basketball. This is an exciting day for Santa Clara basketball.''
In a nine-year tenure with the Sun Devils, Sendek went 159-137, but he was fired following the 2015 season.
Keating spent nine years at Santa Clara but was fired after going 11-20 (7-11 West Coast Conference) this season. Keating went 139-159 in his time with the Broncos.
Santa Clara has not been to the NCAA tournament since a Steve Nash-led team advanced to the second round of the 1996 tournament.
Sendek, a former Pac-10 coach of the year, guided Arizona State to five 20-win seasons and two NCAA tournament appearances.
Prior to joining the Sun Devils in 2006, Sendek spent 10 years coaching North Carolina State.
