Richmond forward Grant Golden was hospitalized Saturday after collapsing at the bench during the first half of the team's 79-72 loss to Texas Tech in Virginia.

The freshman was on the court running when he appeared to trip and fall near midcourt before collapsing on the sideline.

Golden was taken off the court on a stretcher. The team said he was alert and responsive to medical staff.

Though he will be hospitalized overnight, a school spokesman told ESPN that Golden is "in good spirits."

Golden will also get more tests after he is discharged.

He was averaging 2.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
