Gardner-Webb hires Tim Craft

Gardner-Webb will replace Chris Holtmann with former Runnin' Bulldogs assistant Tim Craft as head coach, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

Craft has been on Jeff Lebo's staff for the past four seasons – including the last three as an assistant at East Carolina. He will replace the 41-year-old Holtmann, who joined new Butler coach Brandon Miller's staff last week.

Craft, who was an assistant at Gardner-Webb from 2004 to 2007, will inherit a team expected to compete for one of the top spots in the Big South. Gardner-Webb finished 21-13 last season and went to the CIT -- the program's first postseason appearance in the Division I ranks.

The Bulldogs return three starters and also add Texas A&M transfer Naji Hibbert.
