If you eliminate Isaiah Briscoe's 5-for-6 tally, Kentucky's starters opened the game against Canisius with a 3-for-17 stretch. Welcome to Division I basketball for these young guys. Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo both started 0-for-5.

Kentucky will recover from its rocky start against Canisius, which did a great job of pushing the tempo and being active on the glass. Shocked the Wildcats. But if Kentucky starts like this against Michigan State at the Champions Classic, they'll face a greater early deficit. Not enough energy early.
Reggie Witherspoon, who spent more than 13 seasons coaching at Buffalo, is returning to the city to coach Canisius College.
Jim Baron is retiring as the head basketball coach at Canisius after four seasons at the school.
