Bubble Watch: Nevada lone representative for the MWC?

Nevada is the favorite to win the MWC, and is in good position for an at-large bid if it doesn't get an automatic berth. After that, it's hard to see anyone else in the conference sneaking into the NCAA tournament.

Mountain West released its preseason poll: No shock that San Diego State is clear-cut No. 1 pick with 23 of the 27 first-place votes. Here is the rest of the poll: 2) Nevada 3) New Mexico 4) Fresno State 5) Boise State 6) Utah State 7) Colorado State 8) UNLV 9) Air Force 10) Wyoming 11) San Jose State. I think San Diego State wins the league -- and second is fairly wide open.

Utah State AD vows to cooperate with inquiry

David Collette, who left Utah State and then lost an appeal to be given a full release, will pay his own way and sit out at Utah. He would be eligible at the end of the 2016 fall semester, according to a source with direct knowledge.

Andy Katz ESPN Senior Writer

Utah State denied David Collette's appeal for a full release Tuesday. Utah State's faculty rep Edward Heath said in an email to Collette, "The committee was not able to identify extraordinary circumstances, or inequity in the application of established policies or procedures that would support providing relief in this case. Therefore, the committee has denied your appeal and upholds the USU Athletic Department position." Collette, who informed Utah State of his intentions to transfer days before the season, would now have to pay his own way if he were to transfer next month. Collette told ESPN last month his reasons for transferring had to do with how coach Tim Duryea handled discipline on the team and his approach to coaching. Collette, a 6-8 sophomore, averaged 12.8 points and 5 rebound last season as a freshman for Utah State.
