The Queensland Firebirds are keen to make it two wins in a row next week when they play the Magpies in Launceston.

In a thrilling match, the Firebirds came out firing after last week's two-point loss to the Giants, upsetting West Coast Fever with a 71-61 win in Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.

The Firebirds are keen to keep the momentum going, with the team playing the next two games away from home, starting with the lower-ranked Magpies.

They then come up against the Thunderbirds in Adelaide, who are desperate for their first win in the second season of the new competition.

The Magpies will be playing against the Swifts on Sunday, needing a win to jump over NSW on the ladder.

The Firebirds have their hearts set on playing the Super Netball finals in 2018 after just missing their chance last year and will take confidence from their win on Saturday.

Showing the competition they are true competitors five rounds into the season and will not be slowing down anytime soon.

Firebirds centre Mahalia Cassidy says going into next weekend's game, "We will be concentrating on ourselves and continuing to play the game.

"We want to play good netball, being fearless in defence and getting the ball as much as we can."
