Tom Brady throws third interception from 1-yard line in playoffs since 2001

KANSAS CITY -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw an interception from the 1-yard line in the second quarter of Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, marking only the third time an interception has been thrown from the 1 in the playoffs since 2001.

The pass was intercepted by the Chiefs' Reggie Ragland, who took a knee in the end zone for the touchback.

Prior to Brady's miscue, on which he was looking for tight end Rob Gronkowski, the last time it happened was when Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson threw an interception against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.

That pick, of course, came in the final minute of regulation and helped the Patriots win the game in improbable fashion.

The Cardinals' Kurt Warner threw a pick-six to James Harrison right before halftime of Super Bowl XLIII to account for the other interception from the 1.

Brady is now 0-for-8 when targeting Gronkowski in the end zone this season, according to ESPN's Stats & Information research.

It was Brady's first interception from the opponent's 1-yard line in his career (regular season and postseason included).
