Argentina warmed up for next weekend's autumn international against Wales with a seven-try 54-20 rout of Japan in Tokyo on Saturday.

Nicolas Sanchez scored 29 points -- including two tries -- for the Pumas, who were 21-6 up at half-time and surged even further clear after the interval at Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground.

Matias Moroni and Sanchez touched down in the first period, Sanchez converting his own score and also kicking three penalties.

Two penalties from Yu Tamura -- the first after five minutes putting the hosts ahead -- were all Japan had to show for their first-half endeavours.

Santiago Cordero (two), Moroni, Sanchez and Tomas Cubelli posted second-half tries for Argentina, Sanchez adding the extras on four occasions.

Amanaki Mafi and Lomano Lemeki did cross to give the home fans something to cheer about - both tries converted by Tamura -- but the Brave Blossoms, in their first game under the guidance of former New Zealand and Japan international Jamie Joseph, were never a match for the dominant Pumas, who take on Warren Gatland's Wales at the Principality Stadium next Saturday.
