French Top 14 side Pau have stood down Colin Slade with the former All Blacks fly-half having suffered three concussions this season.

In a statement on the club's website, Pau state that the concern for the physical well-being of its player is paramount and that Slade won't play until the end of the regular season.

The club added that they are following the mantra of "zero risk taken with a player" as they look for the complete recovery of Slade.

Slade joined Pau in 2015, after the French club won promotion from Pro D2 and has helped lift the club to joint fifth in the table this season, level on points with Castres and just two points off Toulon in fourth place.

Their run-in includes this weekend's home game against table toppers La Rochelle, visits to Racing 92 and Stade Francais and a season finale at Toulon.

Slade could make his return should they manage to make the playoffs at the end of the season.
