Harlequins fly-half Marcus Smith has signed his first professional deal with the club after a breakout year that has seen him rise from the club's academy to first choice No. 10.
Smith, who made his first team debut for Quins against London Irish at Twickenham in September, has signed a deal with the Aviva Premiership side until 2022 that will reportedly make him the game's highest paid teenager.
"I am extremely proud to share the news of my contract extension with Harlequins," said Smith.
"Harlequins is a fantastic club and they have looked after me extremely well since I joined three years ago. The club is incredibly ambitious and combined with John Kingston's long-term vision, it made the decision much easier knowing the faith and guidance he has shown me.
"As a player you want to be playing in the big games and hopefully if I can keep improving I will be involved in more and more of them and help the club progress both domestically and in Europe."
After making his senior debut, Smith went on to produce a man of the match performance against Wasps earlier this season -- that game being one of 17 appearances he has made for Harlequins this term. He was also rewarded for his form with a place in the senior England side for the autumn internationals, but Eddie Jones is yet to hand Smith his international bow.
