Wales' injury woes pile up as Dan Biggar to miss start of Six Nations

Rugby, Six Nations

Dan Biggar is likely to miss the first three matches of Wales' 2018 Six Nations campaign with a shoulder injury.

As reported by the BBC, the Ospreys fly-half with sit out his country's opening games against Scotland and England, and is a serious doubt for the clash with Ireland, a Welsh Rugby Union spokesman confirmed.

Biggar suffered the injury late on in his region's Champions Cup defeat to Clermont Auvergne last weekend, and leaves Wales boss Warren Gatland with a major headache at No. 10.

He joins fellow fly-half Rhys Priestland on the sidelines for the start of the Six Nations, with the Bath man ruled out for the majority of the competition last week.

The news means Rhys Patchell, Owen Williams and Gareth Anscombe will vie to start against Scotland on Feb. 3, with Scarlets' Patchell the favourite for the nod after impressing this season for his region.

Sam Warburton, Taulupe Faletau and Jonathan Davies are also on the Wales injury list while George North and Liam Williams have only just returned from spells on the sidelines.
