Ireland's Chris Farrell is expected to miss the remainder of the Six Nations after suffering a knee injury in training, the Irish Rugby Football Union has announced.

Farrell made his Six Nations debut at the weekend, producing a man-of-the-match display in Ireland's 37-27 victory over Wales, but the centre is set to miss out on clashes against Scotland and England for Joe Schmidt's side.

The Munster man received treatment after twisting his knee in the turf during training, and though he continued training, a precautionary scan revealed that the injury was worst than first feared -- with Farrell suffering ligament damage.

Farrell's injury adds to Ireland's injury woes in midfield -- Robbie Henshaw is already ruled out of the tournament while Jared Payne is still sidelined.
