Bath and Exeter will have to wait to contest for English club rugby's first silverware of the season after the Anglo-Welsh Cup final was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

The UK and Ireland have been hit by heavy snowfall as a storm nicknamed "Son of the Beast" in reference to the adverse weather that crippled the countries earlier this month swept in.

It was announced on Sunday morning that the decision had been taken to call off the final, which was due to take place at Gloucester's Kingsholm.

"Today's Anglo Welsh Cup Final between Bath Rugby and Exeter Chiefs has been called off, due to the adverse weather conditions," a statement released by tournament organisers Premiership Rugby read.

"The decision has been made with the safety of supporters, players and officials in mind.

"An announcement about a new date and arrangements for ticket holders will be made in due course."

Conditions in Dublin were such that the planned homecoming event for the Ireland's Grand Slam winners at the Aviva Stadium has also been called off.
