England coach Eddie Jones has issued a 'sincere apology' to Bath owner Bruce Craig after branding him as the 'Donald Trump of rugby'.

Jones and Craig have been feuding for months after Craig criticised Jones' coaching methods with the number of injuries suffered by England players during Jones' training camps reaching worrying numbers.

Craig's comments led to a war of words between the pair, culminating with Jones calling the Bath owner the 'Donald Trump of rugby' as England touched down in South Africa.

"Bruce Craig sounds like the Donald Trump of rugby," said Jones earlier this month. "He has the same hairstyle. Everything we do is about training to get better, it's not about satisfying some bloke who has got plenty of money in Bath and thinks he knows everything about rugby."

However, amid mounting pressure with England losing their fifth consecutive Test match in a row on Saturday -- a 23-12 defeat to South Africa in Bloemfontein -- Jones has now written to Craig to apologise for the remark.

"Eddie has apologised to Bruce Craig for the personal remarks," an RFU spokesperson said. "It was a sincere apology."
