Johnny Sexton has signed a contract extension with the Irish Rugby Football Union which will see him play rugby in Ireland up to the end of the 2020/21 season. The IRFU announced Tuesday that Leinster fly-half Sexton, who was recently named 2018 World Rugby player of the year, had extended his stay. Sexton told the IRFU's official website: "I am delighted to sign a new IRFU contract to continue to play for Leinster and Ireland. It is an exciting time for Irish rugby. I am looking forward to hopefully being a part of that over the next few year." Sexton, 33, made his Leinster debut in 2006 and his Ireland debut against Fiji in 2009. He has made more than 150 appearances for Leinster and amassed over 1300 points in his spells there, winning four European cups -- including an unprecedented Pro14 double -- and a European Challenge Cup. The Ireland vice-captain has won 78 caps and scored 738 points for his country, as well as touring twice with the British & Irish Lions. Across 2013-15 he spent two years at Top 14 outfit Racing Metro in Paris before making his return to Leinster.
