Cheetahs scrum coach Daan Human to work also for Super Rugby's Bulls

Rugby, Super Rugby

Daan Human has joined the Bulls in a unique first for South African rugby, working as scrum coach for both the Super Rugby franchise and South African Guinness PRO14 side the Cheetahs.

The former Stormers, Toulouse and South Africa prop will assist the Bulls two days a week while continuing in a similar role for the Bloemfontein-based Cheetahs in their Guinness PRO14 campaign.

"I firmly believe that Daan will pay a major role in taking us forward," recently appointed Bulls head coach Pote Human said about his namesake in a statement released by the Bulls to announce the appointment.

"The great work he has done at the Cheetahs is obvious to see, and we are looking forward to him joining the Bulls."

Bulls high performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg described the arrangement as "a bold step for rugby in South Africa, and more importantly it shows the willingness of the teams to improve the game in the country".

"We must commend the Cheetahs for their enthusiasm and open-mindedness towards making this possible," Janse van Rensburg said.

Harold Verster, Managing Director of the Free State Cheetahs (Pty) Ltd, said: "To have a scrum coach like Daan Human in both entities is a positive movement in the interest of rugby."
