Ghana defeat Mozambique in African Nations Cup qualifying

Ghana defeated Mozambique 3-1 in Accra in a 2017 African Nations Cup qualifier on Thursday.

Frank Acheampong gave the hosts the lead after just four minutes before leaving the game with an injury, while John Boye and Jordan Ayew added second-half goals.

Apson Majante pulled a goal back for the visitors, but Ghana made it three wins from three in Group H, midway through the qualifying campaign.

Anthony Laffor scored as Liberia went level on points with Togo atop Group A after a 1-0 win at Djibouti.

Tiny Comoros stunned visiting Botswana 1-0 thanks to El Fardou Nabouhane's goal in Group D.

Central African Republic drew 1-1 with Madagascar in Group B after Limane Moussa's late goal cancelled out Carolus Andriamahitsinoro's penalty.

New FIFA President Gianni Infantino is on a visit to Africa to coincide with the qualifiers.

Infantino was in South Sudan on Wednesday, Ethiopia on Thursday, and is expected in Gabon on Friday for their friendly against Sierra Leone.

Infantino will help launch the 2017 African Cup mascot and Gabon's final preparations for the tournament.
