Manchester United's Nick Powell plays FIFA 16 over watching Midtjylland

Manchester United fans have been fuming about their defeat against FC Midtjylland but one of their players, Nick Powell, wasn't venting his frustration -- he was too busy playing FIFA 16.

United midfielder Powell is on loan at Hull City and did not watch his parent club's game, forgetting that they were playing. Though it was only 10 weeks ago that he was playing for them in the Champions League against Wolfsburg.

"No, I completely forgot -- I was playing FIFA, if I was honest," Powell told PA Sport when asked if he watched the 2-1 loss in the Europa League last-32.

"I did read the reports and, I don't know, it's hard. They're under pressure because the gaffer has come out and said it's the best way to qualify for the Champions League next year.

"They've had so many injuries, with Wazza [Wayne Rooney] going out and David [De Gea] was injured before the game. There's no excuse -- they should have have won, but that's just the way it is."

Powell's relaxed demeanour should go down well with United considering the flak they have taken from those who did watch the game.
