Bosnia and Herzegovina flares set pitch alight, firefighters tackle blaze

Bosnia and Herzegovina saw their World Cup dream quite literally go up in flames on Tuesday evening when, despite beating Estonia in their final qualifier, results elsewhere eliminated them from the running.

Indeed, Edin Dzeko and Co. needed Greece to succumb to an unlikely defeat against minnows Gibraltar, who themselves had yet to win a single point in Group H.

True to form, Greece cantered to a 4-0 in Piraeus that served to condemn Bosnia to their fate.

In response, their fans used a barrage of flares and fireworks to set the pitch on fire at the A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn.

Thankfully, the firefighters on duty at the stadium rushed onto the pitch to put out the bright red blaze before things got really out of hand.

Bosnia then went on to record a 2-1 victory over their hosts thanks to a brace of goals from Werder Bremen striker Izet Hajrovic.
