TOP STORY: Emery wants Ozil out to free up funds
Arsenal manager Unai Emery is ready to let Mesut Ozil leave the club in an attempt to bring in money for other signings, according to the Daily Mail.
The German was left out of the Arsenal squad this weekend as they lost 1-0 to West Ham at the London Stadium, and has been left out of matchday squads on a number of occasions this season.
Ozil's £350,000 per week wages are one of the reasons they will want rid of him, as they look to free up space on the wage bill, but this will also deter potential buyers.
Emery will use the money to try to bring in players already identified by himself and Arsenal's recruitment team.

Edinson Cavani fully intends to see out his PSG contract amid speculation of a possible switch, but when it concludes, that may be the end of his career: "Right now, I am playing towards the end of my contract and possibly my career," he's quoted as saying by Le Parisien. "I will be 33 going on 34 when it is up. I do not know if I will continue after 2020 and if it will be in Paris. I feel good here, though, and I want to see my deal out."
Elsewhere, captain Thiago Silva has lamented the club's lack of a defensive midfielder: "Everyone knows that we need players in defensive midfield," AFP quotes him as saying. "Marquinhos plays there, but it is not his position. I prefer to leave it to the president and [sporting director] Antero [Henrique], who is working on this right now."
19.16 GMT: Amid reports that David Luiz will leave Chelsea in the summer -- frustrated by the club's policy of offering one-year contracts to players over 30 -- for a return to Benfica, the 31-year-old's agent Kia Joorabchian is quoted in the Sun as saying: "Contrary to some reports, we are in a very amicable situation with Chelsea. We are trying to work out a deal for David Luiz because he wants to stay, the manager wants him to stay and so does the club. I'm sure something will be worked out."
18.00 GMT: MLSsoccer.com cites Galician outlet Ideal Gallego as reporting that the New England Revolution have made an offer for 26-year-old playmaker Carles Gil, currently plying his trade at Deportivo La Coruna after stints at Valencia and Aston Villa. among others.

15.23 GMT: Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Caparros has conceded defeat in his side's bid to sign Alvaro Morata on loan.
"Sevilla are an appealing team for a lot of players and Morata wanted to come," he said during the unveiling of new signing Munir El Haddadi. "We had talks but when we started talking about fees, we quickly realised that it was impossible and we gave up.
"We focused on those who have come, with whom we are very happy. Munir was wanted by a lot of other teams but he wanted to come with us."
14.56 GMT: Espanyol forward Borja Iglesias has rejected a move to Everton, Marca are claiming.
It is reported the Premier League side had been ready to meet Iglesias' €28m buy-out clause, but the forward is not interested in a move this January.
14.38 GMT: Reports in the Netherlands suggest Willem II forward Fran Sol, who has an incredible goal scoring record in the Eredivisie, is close to finalising a move to Dynamo Kiev.

14.12 GMT: Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti insists "nothing has arrived from France" with regards to a reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain in Allan.
"He's our player and he's really important to us," Ancelotti told Sky Italia. "He played an amazing first half of the season and we're counting on him also for the second half. There's not much to talk about with [president Aurelio] De Laurentiis about this."
13.56 GMT: The Evening Standard claim Chelsea have made a £26.8m offer for Zenit midfielder Leandro Paredes.
After selling Cesc Fabregas to Monaco last week, the Blues need midfield reinforcements and Paredes is an Argentina international who is still only 24 so has plenty of time to grow to his full potential under Maurizio Sarri.
13.42 GMT: Inter Milan's sporting director Beppe Marotta has assured his club's fans that there is no stumbling block in extending Mauro Icardi's contract.
"Yes, I've told the fans that they can relax. There's no issue with Icardi, these are just the usual dynamics at a football club, particularly when you are approaching the end of a contract," he told RAI TV. "I don't think there will be any problems. Both parties intend to continue the relationship and this is a common denominator, which augurs well for the future."
13.28 GMT: Always love to hear from other teams' managers about other teams' players.
Here's Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde on PSG forward Neymar: "We always respect other teams' players. Neymar is a great player, no doubt -- he is world class and proved that here in the past. However, he is now playing for another club. There is nothing more than that. Nobody told me anything about it and I have not received any phone calls. There are always rumours during the season. Neymar is a PSG player, though. We respect him and PSG."

12.57 GMT: Gonzalo Higuain's proposed transfer to Chelsea will not be completed anytime soon as the former Real Madrid forward is in Saudi Arabia with his AC Milan teammates for Wednesday's Supercoppa clash with Juventus in Jeddah.
Higuain's brother and agent Nicolas, was in London on Thursday for discussions with Chelsea over a move. Speculation in Italy is that this could well be the Argentina forward's last match for the Rossoneri.

12.42 GMT: Roma are exploring the possibility of a loan move for Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports in Il Corriere dello Sport.
The French midfielder has made nine appearances so far this campaign and Giallorossi sporting director Monchi reportedly wants to him to provide cover for 35-year-old Daniele De Rossi.
12.18 GMT: TyC Sports report that Exequiel Palacios is set to remain at River Plate at least until June, with Real Madrid having cooled off negotiations to sign the Argentinian midfielder in the winter transfer window.
The 20-year-old is also a reported target of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. However, Madrid will reportedly not make a move for Palacios this month and TyC Sports claim the player's agent Renatio Corsi has been informed of that.
11.55 GMT: Real Madrid reserve goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is in the process of sealing a move to Leeds United which should go through this week, sources close to the player have confirmed to ESPN FC.
Barcelona-born Casilla is behind Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas in the Bernabeu pecking order and has not played a minute of football this season. As a result, the 32-year-old is eager to join Leeds' push to gain promotion to the Premier League under Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa.
ESPN FC has been told that negotiations between all parties are very advanced, with just a few financial details to be finalised, and the expectation is that Casilla could make his Leeds debut in Saturday's Championship game at Stoke.
Casilla's exit from the Bernabeu makes it very unlikely that Navas, who is reportedly unsettled by his own lack of action, will be allowed to leave the club this January. A pelvic muscle injury for first-choice Courtois will have no effect on the timing of Casilla's exit, sources said.
11.28 GMT: Martin O'Neill poised to become the new manager of Nottingham Forest, according to multiple reports.
Having left his job as Republic of Ireland manager back in November with assistant Roy Keane, it now seems like the Forest club legend is set to succeed Aitor Karanka. PLEASE TAKE KEANE WITH YOU.
11.15 GMT: Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure doesn't seem to think he'll be joining PSG any time soon.
He told Canal+: "The list of players that PSG are keeping an eye on is long. I want to continue my season with Watford. I have heard the rumours and it flatters me, but there is nothing concrete. I am focused on my club performances. Honestly, there has been no contact -- Watford have not heard from PSG. It is simply the press talking.
"That aside, it is true that PSG's project interests me, as I am Parisian. My goal is to play well with Watford and then, perhaps, join a Champions League club. The probability of me joining PSG is very, very low right now. PSG are looking at many players and I do not think that I am their priority. If the possibility arises, of course it will be studied."
10.59 GMT: Gonzalo Higain is probably going to move to Chelsea this winter, with Alvaro Morata heading somewhere that isn't west London... but that leaves a striker-shaped hole at Milan where Higuain is on loan from Juventus.
Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that Krzysztof Piatek of Genoa is their top target to replace him. But he would cost upwards of €50m and Milan aren't exactly flush with cash at this point in time, so this one might be tricky to get over the line.
10.50 GMT: Jordi Alba says in quotes reported by Sport that negotiations with Barcelona over a new deal are stalled. He won't be short of suitors if that continues.
10.34 GMT: Nabil Fekir, who was close to joining Liverpool last summer, will extend his Lyon contract but could still leave next summer, the French club's president has told L'Equipe.
Jean-Michel Aulas explained he had met the FIFA World Cup winner shortly before the Christmas break to "confirm he wishes to extend his contract, with two options: either he leaves at the end of the season or he commits himself long term."
The France international has been linked to Arsenal in the past and, more recently, to Real Madrid.
10.20 GMT: Manchester United are not going to sign free agent Guiseppe Rossi, according to caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite impressing Sir Alex Ferguson in training.
American-born Rossi is searching for a new club after leaving Genoa and is training with United after being invited to Carrington by former United teammate Solskjaer. The 31-year-old was watched by Ferguson on Saturday during United's final preparation to face Spurs and Solskjaer believes the former Italy international will have plenty of offers.
"We're not gonna sign Giuseppe, I think, but he's trained well with us," said Solskjaer. "He has looked sharp. He's looking for a club so he's probably going to stay for another week with us unless someone takes him. He scored a fantastic goal in training and the gaffer turns around and says 'What about that son!' It's helping him to get fit for his next move so if there are any takers it should be quick."
10.09 GMT: Would anyone like a 33-year-old, slightly used, attacking midfielder on a free transfer? Yohan Cabaye has been released by Al Nasr.
10.04 GMT: Juventus' Paulo Dybala is one of the top young players around and he hasn't ruled out a move to Ligue 1 in the future (though he might just have been buttering up the French TV station who was asking him directly about the prospect of him moving there...)
He told Canal+: "Why not Ligue 1 at some point in my future? I never say never. However, right now, it is not part of my plans."
09.50 GMT: Michy Batshuayi is close to completing a move to Monaco from Chelsea but while sources have told ESPN FC not to expect an announcement today, the deal is progressing and should be completed in the coming days.
09.22 GMT: Lionel Messi has always said he wants to finish his career back in Argentina with his former club Newell's Old Boys but the team seem to be preparing for his arrival already by signing his cousin Emanuel Biancucchi from Peruvian side Melgar. Don't worry, Barcelona fans, he's not going anywhere yet.
09.11 GMT: Santos president Jose Carlos Peres has revealed that his club has sent a formal request to Real Madrid asking them to allow the Brazilian wunderkind Rodrygo to remain with the South American outfit until December and for the player not to leave this summer.
The 18-year-old signed for Madrid last summer in a €45m transfer and is supposed to link up with the European champions in July.
"We have already asked Real Madrid, we are waiting to see what their thoughts are," said Santos president Jose Carlos Peres as reported in Lance newspaper when asked about the possibility for Rodrygo to remain until December.
Rodrigo, who travelled to Spain during the winter break to see Madrid's facilities and meet the squad, is currently on duty with Brazil's U-20 side and will miss Santos' preseason.
08.54 GMT: Could be a blow for Manchester United's defence -- though they seem to be going OK under their new boss now -- as Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti has ruled out selling reported United target Milan Skriniar this winter, saying to Sky Italia: "Nobody's got enough money to pay for Skriniar, he's staying here -- he's a player who is out of reach for everybody."
08.36 GMT: Paris Saint-Germain are stepping up their efforts to sign Idrissa Gueye from Everton, L'Equipe reports.
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel talked to the midfielder last Wednesday, the paper claims, to discuss where he would fit into the French champions' side. The Senegal international who was bought by Everton from Aston Villa for €8.5m in 2016, is likely to cost PSG around €30m, the equivalent of their entire winter transfer window budget.
08.22 GMT: Belgium newspaper Het Nieuwsblad report that FC Porto have joined AC Milan and Guangzou Evergrande in the race to sign Manchester United´s Marouane Fellaini. The Belgium international is tied to the Red Devils until June 2020. A regular under Jose Mourinho, Fellaini has played just three minutes since Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer took charge of United.
07.55 GMT: Manchester City Guardiola has ruled out making any new signings in the January transfer window but says a new holding midfielder will be a priority for the start of next season, and addressed reports linking his club with a move for Wolves star Ruben Neves.
"Fernandinho's role, it's so difficult to find [a similar player]," Guardiola said. "He knows the Premier League, after three years together here, he knows everything and that's so important. But, of course, for the next season it's an important target to find. He'll be 34 and he cannot play every few days.
"A month ago, I started reading 'Ruben Neves, £100m.' That is not going to happen, we are not going to pay £100m for a holding midfielder. Of course, all departments in the club, we have in every position four or five or six options -- depending on age, what we believe and, of course, the price.

Bournemouth name price for Wilson
English striker Callum Wilson has attracted interest from across the Premier League thanks to his excellent performances this season, and his club have put a price tag on him according to the Star.
It will take a bid of £70 million for one of his many suitors to get a deal done, with Chelsea one of the sides regularly linked with the 26-year-old.
The striker has nine goals and five assists in the league this season as part of an Bournemouth side who play some nice football, even if they haven't had the results lately.
The report also says that Dominic Solanke was signed from Liverpool as a replacement for Wilson in preparation for his exit this year.
Higuain submits transfer request, begins Blues talks
Sky Italia believe that the man singled out to solve Chelsea's striker problems, Gonzalo Higuain, has handed in a transfer request.
The experienced Argentine is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus, but has told the club he wants to join Maurizio Sarri's side.
The Express add further weight to the rumours, reporting that Chelsea are already in talks with the Italian champions with a view to an 18 month loan deal. They have had an offer for a six month loan rejected already.
It appears Chelsea are eager to get their man in January, as Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud do not fit Sarri's plans.
Everton's Gueye wanted by PSG
Idrissa Gueye could be set for a return to Ligue 1 according to reports in France, with Le 10 Sport indicating that Paris Saint-Germain are interested.
The 29-year-old is in his fourth season in the Premier League, and with Everton currently underachieving a move to the French capital could be tempting, and the money on offer even more so.
Speaking of money, the rumoured fee is around £45m, which might interest Marcel Brands, the new director of football at Goodison Park, who would like to make his mark on the club along with manager Marco Silva.

With rumours of Marko Arnautovic's move to China still doing the rounds, the Daily Mail are reporting that the Hammers will look to replace him with Bournemouth's Wilson.
Adrien Rabiot to Chelsea: 2.5
French outlet L'Equipe believe Chelsea are interested in the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, and have made an enquiry about the player whose contract runs out in the summer.
Allan to Manchester City: 2.0
Reports from Tuttomercato in Italy state that Napoli midfielder Allan is a target for Pep Guardiola's side but the fee could be as high as £100m, but City will want to negotiate a lower price.
Frenkie de Jong to Tottenham: 2.0
Tottenham have joined the long line of clubs interested in Ajax's Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong and will step up their interest if Christian Eriksen leaves for La Liga. Fees in the region of £75m have been touted.
