Cape Town City have completed the signing of former Dutch junior international goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh from Ajax Amsterdam. The Premier Soccer League club have been desperate to add to their goalkeeping stocks in this transfer window after releasing the experienced Shu-Aib Walters at the end of the last campaign. That left last year's number one, Sage Stephens, and the inexperienced Damian van Rensburg as the only two glovemen in their squad. "Former Dutch youth international goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh has signed a 3-year deal with CTCFC after spending the last 10 years with AFC Ajax. Peter is relishing his new challenge and the club welcomes the immense quality and experience he will bring to the PSL," City said in a statement. Leeuwenburgh was part of the Dutch Under-17 squad that won the European Championships in 2011, and has also played for the country at Under-19 and Under-20 level. He failed to break into the first team at Ajax though, playing for the reserve side, as well as a spell on loan at second-tier Dordrecht in the 2015/16 season. His arrival does open up a conundrum for City as he becomes their sixth foreigner, with only five allowed to be registered by the league. Others include defenders Edmilson Dove and Kouassi Kouadja, midfielders Roland Putsche and Allan Kateregga, and forward Masoud Juma. It is likely that either Kateregga or Juma will miss out this season. The Dutch keeper is the seventh signing for the club in this transfer window after wingers Gift Links and Riyaad Norodien, defenders Keanu Cupido and Kouadja, and strikers Siphelele Mthembu and Karabo Ngwenya.
