D.C. United add Luciano Acosta on loan from Boca Juniors

D.C. United completed a move to sign midfielder Luciano Acosta on loan from Boca Juniors on Monday.

Acosta, 21, has been training with D.C. for a week and played in a preseason win against NASL side Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday.

The New York Red Bulls initially held Acosta's discovery rights but did not make him an offer. They then traded his rights to D.C. in exchange for a 2017 draft pick.

"We are very pleased to have acquired a top young talent on loan from Boca Juniors," said United general manager Dave Kasper.

"Luciano is a dynamic creative midfielder who has solid experience the past two seasons in the top Argentine league, and we look forward to quickly integrating him into our group."

The 5-foot-3 Acosta spent last season on loan at Estudiantes de la Plata in Argentina, making 11 starts.
