Olivier Giroud stays hot as France beat Scotland; Germany defeat Hungary

Olivier Giroud scored twice and his Arsenal teammate Laurent Koscielny also found the net as France controlled Scotland 3-0 in their final warm-up for the European Championship.

Giroud, who was jeered by his own fans when France beat Cameroon on Monday, but he now looks certain to start against Romania on Friday after scoring seven goals in his past seven games for France.

This time, he was cheered off the pitch when replaced midway through the second half by Andre-Pierre Gignac, now his rival in attack in the absence of Karim Benzema.

Giroud opened the scoring with a back heel in the eighth minute and got his second in the 35th after cleaning up a rebound from a Dimitri Payet blast.

Koscielny got France's final goal following a corner in the 39th minute against a lacklustre Scotland side who failed to qualify for Euro 2016.

Also on Saturday, Germany ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over Hungary.

An own goal from Adam Lang towards the end of the first-half and a poacher's effort from Thomas Muller early in the second ensured the world champions got back to winning ways following the 3-1 friendly defeat to Slovakia in Augsburg last weekend.

Mario Gotze, who forced Lang into the error which led to the own goal, and Toni Kroos, an assured presence in midfield, both impressed for Germany.

Captain Bastian Schweinsteiger came on for Kroos in the second half to return from his second serious knee injury of the year, suffered in training on March 22.

Matthew Leckie's late strike gave Australia a narrow 1-0 victory against Greece in Sydney.

Tim Cahill had seen an effort disallowed minutes earlier for the ball going out of play.

The goal was a long time coming for Ange Postecoglou's men who, despite their superior possession and 17 shots on goal to Greece's five, lacked the finishing touch on a patchy pitch.

Vincent Janssen and Georginio Wijnaldum scored to give Netherlands a 2-0 win at Austria.

The Dutch may be staying home for Euro 2016 but they took the lead when Janssen headed home in the ninth minute.

Luuk de Jong laid the ball off for Wijnaldum to tap home in the 66th minute.

Mario Mandzukic and Nikola Kalinic both scored hat tricks as Croatia trounced San Marino 10-0.

Mandukic's three goals all came in the first half, and Kalinic scored all of his after coming on in the 56th minute.

Marko Pjaca got the opener while Darijo Srna, Ivan Perisic and Ivan Rakitic were also on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere, Northern Ireland managed a 0-0 draw at Slovakia, while Estonia and Latvia also finished without a goal.

Ivory Coast defeated 2017 African Nations Cup hosts Gabon 2-1, Jonathan Kodjia Ismael Diomande scoring for the Elephants before Malick Evouna found a consolation for the visitors.
