Kaizer Chiefs' long pursuit of Godfrey Walusimbi has come to an end after the Ugandan defender penned a three-year deal with the South African club, arriving from Kenyan side Gor Mahia. The 29-year-old will add to the left full-back stocks that were depleted with the departures of Tsepo Masilela and Sibusiso Khumalo at the end of last season. Walusimbi has been training with Chiefs for weeks and as such should slip straight into first team contention once his work permit is completed. "I've always known that Kaizer Chiefs is a great football club," Walusimbi told his new club's website. "Chiefs play for honours and that's a positive mindset that every player dreams of. Just like every footballer, I always want to move one step further in my career and I think my move to Chiefs is one such step." "I have already adapted at Chiefs. It is easier to adapt in a professional environment. I look forward to working hard and contribute to the team." Chiefs have been chasing Walusimbi for some time, but had to work hard to persuade Gor Mahia to part with one of their prized assets. The widely-traveled Walusimbi has also played for SC Villa in Uganda and Don Bosco in the DR Congo. "It has been an engaging process to finalise this move," AmaKhosi football manager Bobby Motaung said. "At the end we are happy the process has been completed and the player is available to play. We wish him all of the best with us." Chiefs have made a poor start to the new season with just a single victory in seven games in all competitions, and none in five in the Absa Premiership, where they languish in 13th position.
