NYCFC to play post-season friendly vs. Puerto Rico on Dec. 11

New York City FC will face Puerto Rico's national team in a post-season friendly match on Dec. 11 at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, the Major League Soccer side announced on Wednesday.

Former Puerto Rico national team goalkeeper Josh Saunders, who plays for NYCFC, is expected to be in action, along with the club's top stars.

"We are looking forward to a competitive match and are excited to learn about the growing interest of soccer in Puerto Rico," NYCFC sporting director Claudio Reyna said. "We want to thank the Puerto Rican national team for giving New York City FC the opportunity to play this match at the end of our historic first season as a club."

Puerto Rico federation president Eric Labrador said the match will give fans on the island a glimpse of the play of Frank Lampard, David Villa and Andrea Pirlo.

"It is a great opportunity for our Puerto Rican national team to face, at home, a club with players of such magnitude and recognition," Labrador said. "In addition, it's a great opportunity for our fans to enjoy the play of the most decorated, international trio in MLS history."
