Atletico Madrid send Bernard Mensah on loan to Kasimpasa

Ghana international Bernard Mensah has joined Kasimpasa on a season-long loan after again being deemed surplus to requirements by Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old signed for Atletico on a six-year deal in 2015 - joining from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes - but is yet to make a first-team appearance for Diego Simeone's side, despite courting reported interest from Manchester United in 2016.

Instead, he's been sent out on loan to Getafe and then Guimaraes, and will now sample professional football outside Iberia for the first time.

Kasimpasa confirmed the move on their official website on Wednesday, and also revealed that they have an option to sign the youngster on a permanent deal.

Attacking midfielder Mensah made his Ghana debut in a friendly against Togo in June 2015, netting the winning goal to begin his international career in some style.

However, he's struggled to establish himself in the subsequent two years, making only three further appearances -- of which two were starts - and not featuring since a 1-1 draw with Canada in October 2015.

Mensah joins a significant African contingent at Kasimpasa, where he'll be playing alongside Syam Ben Youssef, Trezeguet, Samuel Eduok, Franck Etoindi and Bengali-Fode Koita.
