Marco Fabian move to Fenerbahce off after club terminates deal

Mexico international Marco Fabian won't be moving to Fenerbahce, the Turkish club announced on Monday, despite the 29-year-old traveling to Istanbul on Sunday and being photographed with a Fenerbahce scarf.

Fabian was set to complete a move from Eintracht Frankfurt, but reports on Monday suggested that he had failed his medical, although the club didn't specify why the transfer had fallen through.

"We inform the public that the final steps of the transfer process have been negative and that negotiations have been terminated," read the statement from Fenerbahce.

Fabian started for Eintracht Frankfurt in the defeat to Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup on Aug. 12 and was thought to be part of coach Adi Hutter's plans, but the club announced days later than the former Chivas player was free to leave.

The Mexico international player did have an operation in August 2017 on a herniated disk in the lumbar region of his back, which kept him out until February 2018.
