MANCHESTER, England -- Pep Guardiola has said Manchester City will not be making any new signings in the January window because top clubs do not buy players for just six months.
Guardiola said he was happy with his squad, with City challenging for silverware in four competitions.
"Sometimes we have done [business], but normally when we buy some player it's for the next five, six years and normally in this transfer window this kind of situation doesn't happen," he told a news conference ahead of Monday's Premier League clash with Wolves.
"The big clubs don't buy big players for just six months, and it important players are not sold in this period.
"If you have no injuries and you are satisfied, like in our case, with your players and your squad you have, we decided, going well or going bad, to go with the players we had at the start of the season."
Guardiola said he had not spoken to Kevin De Bruyne after the Belgium international went straight down the tunnel after being substituted in the 9-0 Carabao Cup thrashing of Burton Albion.
De Bruyne has missed much of the season after suffering two knee injuries and wanted more minutes as he returns to full fitness, but was replaced by Phil Foden after 58 minutes.
"No, I didn't speak with him," Guardiola said.
City have Sergio Aguero in contention for Monday's game after he returned to training following flu, while Vincent Kompany is fighting to be fit to face Wolves.
"Sergio after Liverpool was sick," Guardiola added. "He's a little bit better. Vincent is recovering after the game against Liverpool. The rest are fit. I hope they will be ready."
The manager said City would do everything they can to help Gabriel Jesus after close relatives including his mother, Vera Lucia Diniz de Jesus, returned to Brazil.
Their arrival in Manchester before Christmas coincided with an upturn in the forward's form, and Guardiola said: "The private life is the private life and if they need something we are there. We are there to help.
"But of course we cannot substitute the mother and, when the family can't be there, it's difficult.
"They have to handle the situation and of course he is not alone, he has friends. He has incredible relationship with the Brazilian guys, like Danilo, Fernandinho, Bernardo, many, many players here. I think it won't be a problem for the next months."
