Tottenham targeting Fulham's Moussa Dembele - sources

Tottenham are planning a move for highly rated forward Moussa Dembele before the close of the transfer window, sources say.

Dembele has impressed this season, scoring 11 goals and his form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere.

A host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been credited with an interest in Dembele, while Italian giants Juventus have also shown interest in the Frenchman.

However, Tottenham are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by setting up a deal with Fulham for Dembele, who is out of contract at Craven Cottage at the end of the season and has snubbed Fulham's offer of a new deal.

Fulham would be reluctant to lose Dembele because the club are under a transfer embargo, but they would only be due a compensation fee for the player if he stays until the summer.

The 19-year-old joined Fulham as a youngster from Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 and made his Premier League debut as a 17-year-old as a substitute against West Ham in November 2013.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is on the lookout for striking reinforcements this month to ease the goal scoring burden on Harry Kane and with Tottenham looking well-placed to battle for a top four finish this season the club could decide to try and push through a deal for Dembele to boost their aspirations of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

If Tottenham sign Moussa Dembele he will join Belgian international namesake Mousa Dembele, also a former Fulham player, at White Hart Lane.
