Marcelo: 'I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day'

Marcelo believes Brazil teammate Neymar will one day join Real Madrid.

Neymar moved to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona last summer for a record transfer fee of €222 million, but has been forced to constantly deny speculation he's unhappy at the club and looking for a move.

Los Blancos have been tipped as his likely landing spot whenever he does decide to leave the Parc des Princes.

And Real left-back Marcelo, speaking ahead of the two clubs' Champions League round-of-16 clash on Wednesday, told Esporte Interativo he believes Neymar will make the Bernabeu his home one day.

"Would Neymar fit at Real Madrid? He would fit, for sure," Marcelo told the outlet. "It would be great if he came to Real Madrid.

"In my opinion, the great players have to play at this club. And I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day."

Marcelo's fellow Brazil international and PSG captain, Thiago Silva, is not so sure, though, and expressed his hope that his compatriot will stay at Parc des Princes for the foreseeable future.

"I do not know (if Neymar will join Real one day)," Silva told Canal+. "I cannot speak for him or answer this question about a hypothetical situation. The (french press) sometimes write false things and sometimes true, so they might try to twist my words.

"I will say this, hope that Neymar stays with us. He still has many things to achieve with us and he did a lot in order to come and play with us. Globally, we are much better known thanks to him and thanks to our work together."

Looking ahead to Wednesday's Champions League round-of-16 first leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu, Silva announced that he expects Real to raise themselves from their recent slump in form.

"It is a top-level encounter and we must stay focused because the small details in this match will make all the difference," the PSG captain said. "There is not much use for talk. Just small bits of advice here and there. Simply, we need to be able to play our game, try to maintain control when we are not on the ball and stay focused. We need to keep working.

"Some people think that we have already qualified because Real have been through a bad patch of form. This is not the case and the top players turn up for the big games -- Real's players will give everything here, the same as we will."
