Jozy Altidore scored a hat trick to help Toronto FC win the Canadian Championship for a third consecutive year with a 7-4 aggregate triumph after a 5-2 second-leg victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night.
Sebastian Giovinco had a goal and two assists and Tosaint Ricketts added a late goal for Toronto, following the 2-2 draw last week in Vancouver in the first leg of the cup final.
Toronto was already leading 4-0 on the night when Kei Kamara and Brek Shea scored goals in the second half for Vancouver, but the tie was already out of reach.
With the result, Toronto earned Canada's lone spot in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League. The Reds reached the final of the last edition of the tournament, falling to Chivas in April.
The win marked the seventh time Toronto had lifted the Voyageurs Trophy, easily the most over the cup's 11 years. Jonathan Osorio was named the tournament MVP.
"As a Canadian, it's really important for me and for this club to participate in this every year," Osorio said after the game. "And to win it for a third time in a row means a lot. It's our berth into the Champions League and another shot to make a run."
Toronto coach Greg Vanney said he hoped the cup triumph would help the club's focus as it tries to overcome a slow start to the MLS season to reach the playoffs.
"It was a final, but it was also for us an important night to win a championship, get that back under our belt, to use it as a way to build confidence and momentum down this final stretch of 11 games," Vanney said. "If you don't win it, that's another kick in the gut to a group that has had a lot of challenges to deal with this year."
