Conor McGregor to be presented with lifelike statue for 30th birthday

MMA, UFC

You have to come up with something pretty special to impress a sporting superstar like Conor McGregor on their birthday.

But Lithuanian sculptor Edgar Askelovic has done just that, spending five months designing a stunning lifelike statue of the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion.

Valued at £50,000 ($66,000), the statue, described as hyerperrealistic, will be unveiled at London's JD Malat Gallery on McGregor's 30th birthday, July 14.

Askelovic, also known as Aspencrow, said it was an "honour" that the Irish fighter has accepted the gift, which weighs 100 kg and was designed solely from photographs.

McGregor has not fought since his boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.

He is currently facing legal issues in New York, following an attack on a bus at a UFC event in Brooklyn in April.
