Lynx acquire Talbot, Coates in separate trades

WNBA, Minnesota Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx traded 2020 draft picks Tuesday to pick up two post players. The Lynx sent a second-round pick to Phoenix for forward Stephanie Talbot, and a third-round pick to Chicago for center Alaina Coates.

The 6-foot-2 Talbot averaged 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in two seasons with the Lynx. Talbot, 24, has played several years on the Australian national team.

Coates, who played for South Carolina's 2017 NCAA championship team, was the No. 2 draft pick that year for the Sky. But she didn't play that season in the WNBA due to an ankle injury that cut short her college senior season. The 6-foot-4 Coates averaged 3.4 points and 3.2 rebounds last season for the Sky. She is also 24.

WNBA teams must get down to their final rosters of 12 players Thursday. The season begins Friday.
