Anthony Levrets fired as Utah coach

SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah has fired women's basketball coach Anthony Levrets after five seasons.

Athletic director Chris Hill announced the move Sunday.

The team went 9-21 overall this season, with a 3-15 mark in Pac-12. The Utes were 78-87 in five seasons under Levrets. His best season came in 2012-13 when the team went 23-14 and played in the WNIT championship.

Levrets was chosen interim coach in 2010-11 after serving as an assistant since 2007 and was given the job full-time after the season.

Hill said in a statement that the program needs a "change in direction" and added "our women's basketball program has achieved great success throughout its history and we are committed to its continued success."
