Jonathan Tsipis resigns GW post after 4 years, reportedly headed to Wisconsin

WASHINGTON -- Jonathan Tsipis has resigned as coach of the George Washington women's basketball team.

The school says the search for a replacement will begin immediately.

Tsipis is expected to be hired as the next Wisconsin women's basketball coach when the school's board of regents meet on Tuesday to vote to approve his contract, according to The Wisconsin State Journal.

Tsipis led George Washington to consecutive Atlantic 10 championships and NCAA tournament appearances. The Colonials went 92-38 during his four seasons as coach.

Athletic director Patrick Nero said Tsipis brought the program back into the national picture and restored its "outstanding tradition."
