CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois leading scorer and rebounder Chatrice White plans to transfer from the school, according to women's basketball coach Matt Bollant. Bollant said Friday that White, a 6-foot-3 center, has been granted a release from the program. Bollant said he wishes her "all the best" but provided no information about her plans. White, a former McDonald's All-American from Shelby, Nebraska, averaged 18.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore for a 9-21 team. She was named a second-team All-Big Ten selection last season.  White's exit adds to the ongoing struggles of the women's basketball program. Earlier this week, the university settled a lawsuit with seven former players who accused Bollant and some staff of creating a racially hostile environment. The players will receive $375,000 to be distributed among them. Former assistant coach Mike Divilbiss parted with the school in the wake of the allegations. Bollant was retained. White's father, Bob White, did not respond to a request for comment. He had backed the coaching staff when the allegations were made. Chatrice White is the second Nebraska native to depart Illinois this week. Brooke Kissinger, who averaged 6.9 points per game in 2015-16 as a sophomore, announced Wednesday that she is transferring to Creighton. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
