Belmont hires Cameron Newbauer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont has found its new women's basketball coach in Cameron Newbauer, who reached the NCAA championship game this past season as an assistant at Louisville.

Newbauer was introduced as Belmont's new coach on Monday. Newbauer replaces Brittney Ezell, who took over East Tennessee State's program earlier this month.

In his only year on Louisville's staff, Newbauer helped with recruiting, scouting, on-court instruction and player development. Louisville went 29-9 and stunned Baylor in a regional championship game before losing 93-60 to Connecticut in the NCAA tournament final.

Newbauer worked on the staffs of NCAA tournament teams with Georgia and Siena before coming to Louisville. He also worked two stints with the Georgia men's basketball team, serving as a graduate manager in 2003-04 and as director of basketball operations from 2005-07.
