Orton stitched up after being bloodied by Lesnar at SummerSlam

Brock Lesnar delivered a raw and brutal performance at Sunday's SummerSlam in Brooklyn, taking a rare TKO victory over a bloodied Randy Orton.

Orton suffered a cut on the top of his head toward the end of the main event; the gash appeared to be the result of a short elbow from Lesnar, who continued to pound Orton's head after the wound was opened.

The cut bled out onto the floor in the center of the ring before the match was eventually called in Lesnar's favor.

The WWE later shared video of medical staff attending to the cut, closing it with staples:

Lesnar played Orton's injury up as if it were a storyline, twice preventing ringside doctors from tending to Orton.

The amount of blood spilled, though, begs the question of whether the finish was planned -- especially in light of comments made by Shane McMahon, general manager of SmackDown Live, on Monday:
