Swans' Papley wants AFL trade to Blues

Days after finishing fourth in Sydney's best and fairest voting, small forward Tom Papley has told the club he wants an AFL trade to Carlton.

But Papley is contracted to the Swans until at least 2021 and they are keen to keep him.

The Swans continue to court Essendon key forward Joe Daniher, amid reports over the last few days that he is poised to stay with the Bombers.

Daniher's future should become more clear after Essendon hold their best and fairest count on Tuesday night.

Trade period officially starts on October 7 and Papley is the latest player to signal a desire to switch clubs.

Adelaide veteran Eddie Betts wants a trade to the Blues, where he started his AFL career, and Gold Coast's Jack Martin also hopes to join Carlton.

Betts headlines a number of players keen to leave the Crows, who are in crisis and still going through the process of picking a new coach.

Hugh Greenwood is linked to the Suns, Cam Ellis-Yolmen wants to join Brisbane, Sam Jacobs is headed to GWS, Alex Keath has nominated the Western Bulldogs and Josh Jenkins is also leaving.

All-Australian Tim Kelly is yet to confirm whether he will stay at Geelong or seek a trade to one of the WA clubs.
