Crows defender Doedee suffers knee setback

Adelaide defender Tom Doedee has suffered an injury to his reconstructed left knee and is likely to miss the start of the AFL premiership season.

Doedee had been expected to make his comeback in an under 23 trial game against Port Adelaide this weekend after having surgery last March.

But the 22-year-old has hyperextended his left knee at training and been ruled out of playing any preseason matches.

"There is some minor bone bruising evident on MRI which is a setback," Adelaide's head of football Adam Kelly said.

"It is likely Tom will not be available for selection in our final (preseason) game."

Adelaide's final official preseason game is against Gold Coast on March 6, ahead of their premiership season opener against Sydney on March 21.

"Everyone at the club obviously wants him back in our AFL team as soon as possible," Kelly said.

"However we will need take into account our upcoming playing schedule, with a view to him returning in the early rounds of the season."
