West Coast Eagles axe five, still no word on Lewis Jetta

AFL

West Coast have delisted five players but there's still no news on the future of two-time premiership star Lewis Jetta.

Midfielder Hamish Brayshaw, forward Nic Reid and defender Francis Watson were among the cuts, along with rookies Anthony Treacy and Mitch O'Neill.

Reid was one of West Coast's feel-good stories of the year after graduating from amateur football to make his debut against Hawthorn in round 12.

However, the 25-year-old booted just one goal in his three games before being dropped.

Brayshaw, the brother of Fremantle's Andrew and Melbourne's Angus, made his solitary appearance in the round 17 win over St Kilda.

Watson played two games last season but suffered a serious knee injury this year.

Jetta is out of contract and it remains to be seen if he has earned a new deal.

The 31-year-old, who won a flag at Sydney in 2012 before triumphing with West Coast in 2018, managed just six games this year due to injury and poor form.

It was his lowest games tally in his 11-year career.

Veterans Shannon Hurn and Josh Kennedy have already signed one-year deals, and Jetta faces a nervous wait to find out if he'll be offered the same.
