Sources: New Boomer joins Goorjian's Hawks

Duop Reath, the big-man who was just named to the Australian Boomers' Olympic team, has agreed to a deal with the Illawarra Hawks for the 2021-22 NBL season, sources told ESPN.

The 25-year-old will join a Hawks team coached by Brian Goorjian, who's also at the helm of the Boomers going into the Tokyo Olympics.

The Hawks are also privately confident that Tyler Harvey will return for another season in Illawarra, sources said, after the import guard finished as a finalist for the 2021 NBL MVP trophy.

Reath was one of a host of local big-men to make NBL Free Agency decisions on Sunday.

Will Magnay has agreed in principle to a one-year deal with the Tasmania JackJumpers, sources said.

Magnay was coming off a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans when he signed with the Perth Wildcats in May, but underperformed during his time with the then-defending champions. The move to Tasmania is an attempt to rejuvenate the 23-year-old's young career, with an attempt to eventually get back in the NBA pathway.

The JackJumpers are also linked to another former Wildcat, Clint Steindl, who sources say is closing on a deal with the NBL's new franchise.

ESPN reported last week that the JackJumpers had signed Jack McVeigh to a two-year deal, while the team announced the signing of Sam McDaniel to a three-year deal; head coach Scott Roth slowly filling out the local spots on his roster.

Over in Brisbane, Jack Salt, a Kiwi centre currently playing in the New Zealand NBL, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Bullets, sources said.

Salt had been on NBL radars for the past two off-seasons but multiple injuries set the 25-year-old back.
