Each AFLW season comes with a plethora of highlights and 2022 delivered that in spades.
It's a year that will no doubt be looked back on as one where the game took massive strides in development and quality, while club membership records were smashed by an eyebrow-raising 89 per cent.
Plus, who can forget the many on-field records, or the Crows declaring the competition's first dynasty?
From high sailing goals from the boundary to gravity-defining marks, mimosas drunk out of shoes and new milestones reached, there was plenty to get fans on their feet.
So, without further ado, here's our pick of the top 20 moments of the sixth AFLW season.
20. Melbourne make their maiden Grand Final
After winning the preliminary final against Brisbane at the MCG, the Demons booked their tickets to their maiden Grand Final. After coming so close year after year the likes of Daisy Pearce and Karen Paxman finally got to run out in a big showdown - which is a huge achievement in and of itself no matter the end result.
19. Hayley Miller takes an exceptional grab
In Fremantle's qualifying final against North Melbourne, Dockers captain Hayley Miller took an incredible mark. It was a grab that, if taken during the home-and-away season, could have contended for mark of the year or at least rivalled Tahlia Randall's effort for the Kangas. Going up alongside a Roos defender, Miller arched her back and launched herself running back with the flight, taking the ball at its highest point at a crucial stage of the do-or-die contest.
18. Gold Coast Suns break winning drought
Remember last year when the Gold Coast Suns ended the season without a win in the bank? This season was a very different story, and they even flirted with a finals berth. Snapping their losing streak with a late goal in the fourth term against West Coast in Round 2 was an extremely joyful moment for fans of the Suns and the game alike.
17. Frankston housed a great season opener
Remember the very first game to kick everything off between Richmond and St Kilda back in Round 1? Fans flocked to Skybus Stadium -- despite heavy rain earlier in the day and COVID precautions -- and Frankston proved it's a more than a fine place for footy.
16. Tayla commands the skies
In Round 7, Melbourne's Tayla Harris registered an impressive seven contested marks against Brisbane, equalling the most in a game in the league's history, tying with Sabrina Frederick who achieved the same when playing for the Lions in 2018.
15. Ebony Marinoff reaches 1,000 disposals
Adding to an already hugely decorated footy career, Adelaide's Ebony Marinoff was the first AFLW player to reach, and then surpass, 1,000 disposals against GWS in Round 7. The prolific ball winner also reached a game-high 16 tackles to put the cherry on the cake.
14. Ebony Antonio's first-round beauty
In the dying seconds of the first quarter in the Round 1 derby, Fremantle's Ebony Antonio booted a resounding stunner from the boundary line. It was the first goal of the game, first for Fremantle's season and earned her Goal of the Year at the W Awards.
13. St Kilda's first win
The last side to bag a win this season, St Kilda finally broke their winning drought in Round 8 against the Suns in a three-point nail biter. The joy on the players' faces was absolutely palpable.
12. Indigenous Round
Round 8 was a top moment across the board as Indigenous Round took place to provide a time of education, recognition and celebration of the contributions to the league by First Nations peoples. Thirteen of the 14 clubs also had uniquely designed Indigenous guernseys, with special meanings behind each, and the clubs must applauded for their efforts and involvement.
11. The joy of Pride Round
In Round 3, 13 out of the 14 teams again donned specially-designed guernseys and across the weekend, fans decked themselves out in the colours of the different flags of the LGBTIQA+ community. It was a moment of education, celebration of diversity and inclusiveness, and one that redated with joy.
10. Nicky Winmar presented with St Kilda Indigenous Guernsey
At St Kilda's first away game of the season against Collingwood in Round 2, the side debuted its 2022 Indigenous guernsey designed by club legend Nicky Winmar. At Victoria Park, Saints skipper Hannah Priest presented Winmar with a signed guernsey on the same grounds where he iconically took a stance against racism almost 30 years ago.
9. Daisy kicks a handful
In Melbourne's record breaking 107-19 win over Fremantle, beloved skipper Daisy Pearce booted five majors and became the first Melbourne player to kick five or more goals in a women's match. She's also the fourth AFLW player to boot five in a game since its inception.
8. Ash Riddell breaks colossal disposal record
Against the West Coast Eagles in Round 10, North Melbourne's Ash Riddell set a new AFLW record for disposals in a game with 42, overtaking her previous record of 35. She also had a cracking game with 15 contested possessions, nine clearances, seven marks and five inside 50s. Not bad from the 26-year-old...
7. Ebony Marinoff, Ally Anderson and Emily Bates win the 50-game race
Inaugural Crow Ebony Marinoff and Brisbane's dynamic duo Ally Anderson and Emily Bates became the first AFLW players to play 50 games when they ran out to their respective games in Round 9. A huge effort from all three.
6. Craig Starcevich does a mimosa shoey
After Lions gun midfielder Emily Bates took out the league's best and fairest award at the W Awards, she commented in her speech that head coach Craig Starcevich said he'd do a shoey if she won. And he stuck to his word, unlacing his shoe and then drinking a mimosa from it to a thumping cheer from the room.

5. The Prespakis Cup
With some last minute reshuffling of the fixture due to COVID complications and player unavailability, Geelong hosted Carlton down at GMHBA Stadium in what was dubbed "The Prespakis Cup". Older sister Maddy went head-to-head with younger sister Georgie who burst onto the scene, and was ultimately left holding the cup and with four points on the board for Carlton.
4. Vescio becomes first AFLW player to kick 50 career goals
Carlton's star forward Darcy Vescio kicked their 50th career goal, the first AFLW player to the milestone, in Round 8 at Canberra's Manuka Oval. In the game against GWS, the navy Blue booted two majors in five minutes in the third quarter to a huge applause - one that was only beaten by their teammates in the post-match celebration.
3. Bulldogs edge Adelaide in one-point thriller
In what was dubbed the upset of the season, the Western Bulldogs flew to Adelaide to take on the unbeaten Crows side and claimed a one-point victory in an absolute nail-biter. In the last minute of the game, all players were in the Dogs' forward 30m, trying to get the ball across the line, or keep it from doing so - depending on what colours they were wearing, of course. It was showstopping stuff!
2. Melbourne break the 100-point barrier
The Demons, in a stunning display of team-effort footy, produced a record-breaking score against the decimated Dockers in Round 9 and were the first AFLW team to break the 100-point mark. The 88-point win featured a slew of contributors to goal, including Daisy Pearce, Harris, Kate Hore, Paxman, Shelley Scott, Alyssa Bannan and Casey Sherrif.
1. The final siren declares Adelaide premiers again
The final siren of the season of the season sounded and the Crows were crowned the 2022 premiers. And with their third premiership in five Grand Finals, the Adelaide dynasty was declared. Who can't help but marvel at what this team has achieved.
