Kai Sotto limited to five points in G League Ignite scrimmage loss

The NBA G-League Ignite, a selection of some of the finest young talent in the U.S., fell short to a team that comprised of G-League veterans, 113-107, Wednesday Manila time.

Filipino center Kai Sotto logged 5 points and 5 rebounds, and 2 two blocks.

The Ignite were led by Congolese prospect Jonathan Kuminga, who scored 26 on 11/ 15 shooting on top of 8 rebounds. Jalen Green followed suit with 22 markers and 8 boards.

"I was really, really happy with the effort and what I saw today," said Ignite head coach Brian Shaw. "I was very pleased with what I saw, in terms of how we matched the physicality, the intensity, that the other team played with. For a group of young guys that are playing against some physically more mature grown men, they held their own and some."

Shaw also praised the 7'2 Sotto for "having some great plays on the defensive end."

Aside from the NBA hopefuls, NBA champion Jeremy Lin and former NBA big Amir Johnson played for the Ignite, but are not part of the official team roster.

For the victorious G-League veteran selection, London Perrantes and DJ Hogg led the team with 18 points apiece, and were backstopped by Marcus Graves and Isaiah Briscoe, who both chipped in 16 markers.

The two will face off again on Thursday (Friday Manila time).
