Four safeties (and QB Trevor Knight) part of Cardinals' UDFA class

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Cardinals weren’t done with their search for defensive backs after last week’s NFL draft.

Among the 17 undrafted free agents who agreed to terms, six were defensive backs -- four safeties and two cornerbacks. That was after Arizona drafted safety Budda Baker in the second round and cornerback Rudy Ford in the sixth. Both can play multiple positions.

Arizona announced the 17 UDFAs on Tuesday.

The safeties Arizona agreed to terms with were Ironhead Gallon from Georgia State, Gump Hayes from Arizona State, Drico Johnson from Central Florida and Cyril Noland-Lewis from Louisiana Tech. The cornerbacks were Sojourn Shelton from Wisconsin and Ryan Lewis from Pittsburgh.

Shelton reportedly received a $25,000 signing bonus, more than a quarter of the $98,000 teams are allowed to hand out in bonuses to UDFAs.

Also highlighting the Cardinals’ UDFAs was quarterback Trevor Knight, the former Oklahoma Sooner who transferred to Texas A&M as a graduate student. It’s been typical for the Cardinals to have four quarterbacks through OTAs, minicamp and training camp.

The rest of the UDFAs included Rutgers WR Carlton Agudosi, Northwest Missouri State DT Collin Bevins, North Carolina C Lucas Crowley, Marian WR Krishawn Hogan, Weber State OLB Tre’Von Johnson, Virginia Tech T Jonathan McLaughlin, Texas A&M TE Ricky Seals-Jones, East Carolina RB James Summers, Utah DT Pasoni Tasini and Southern Utah TE Steven Wroblewski.

Seals-Jones is cousins with Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson.

Bevins was first-team All-American last season with 61 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss.

Crowley blocked for Arizona’s fifth-round pick, running back T.J. Logan at UNC, while Seals-Jones caught passes last year from Knight.
