Alex Collins returns to practice after missing one day with calf injury

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins showed no signs of a calf injury in returning to practice on Thursday.

Collins, the 13th-leading rusher in the NFL, missed his first practice of the year on Wednesday. But he didn't appear limited on Thursday and even jumped onto the field to run with the scout kickoff team.

This could be a productive week for Collins in going against Detroit. In six games without defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, the Lions' defense has given up an average of 150.8 yards rushing. That's the second-most in the NFL over that span.

Collins has been held to 50.6 rushing yards the past three games, but he has scored touchdowns the last two weeks. Terrance West could be activated for the first time since Oct. 8 as insurance if Collins aggravates the calf injury.

The only Ravens player not practicing Thursday is guard Jermaine Eluemunor (shoulder), a rookie fifth-round pick.
