2014-15 cap hit: $550,000 | Age: 30 | Season stats: 4 goals, 4 assists, plus-3

Season recap: Carcillo joined the Blackhawks just before the season began. He played some of his best hockey early in the year and had two goals and two assists in the first two months. He missed games due to injuries and healthy scratches. Late in the season, he filmed an emotional video about his friend Steve Montador’s death and his own concussion problems, and he started a nonprofit organization to help athletes plan lives after their careers.

Season highlight: Carcillo returned from an injury in November and had two goals and two assists during a streak in which the Blackhawks won six of seven games.

Season lowlight: Carcillo was suspended six games after crosschecking the Winnipeg Jets’ Mathieu Perreault in January.

Final grade: C.

Inside the numbers: Carcillo had a plus-3 goal differential this season. He was on the ice for 11 goals for and eight goals against. He had a plus-14 goal differential during three seasons with the Blackhawks.

Quote: Carcillo on assisting athletes: “I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know I'm not going to be around much longer, whether that be next year or the year after or five years. Who knows? But my hope is, when my son grows up and when Monty's kid grows up, or even two, three, four years, it'll help somebody down the road. Hopefully, I'll be able to be involved in it in some capacity and help it grow.”

What’s next: Carcillo is an unrestricted free agent. He hasn't announced whether he plans to play in the future.
