GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Chicago Cubs lost to the White Sox, 3-2, on Friday afternoon, dropping their Cactus League record to 5-12-1.

Kyle Hendricks: He’s rounding into regular-season form after going five innings and giving up just two hits and a run while striking out three. He didn’t walk anyone, lowering his Cactus League ERA to 1.29. Any doubts about him being in the rotation, after an up-and-down season, are being eliminated.

Offense quiet: After a huge night Thursday, none of the Cubs' regulars had a hit before leaving the game. The team managed just one hit the entire afternoon.

Up next: The Cubs take on the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night but Jake Arrieta will take his turn in the rotation early Saturday afternoon in a “B” game in Mesa. Pierce Johnson will start against the Indians.
