White Sox make Jacob Turner, Dioner Navarro deals official

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox announced Friday they have come to an agreement on a one-year, $1.5 million contract with right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner.

Also made official Friday was the club’s one-year, $4 million deal with catcher Dioner Navarro that was reported Thursday.

Turner who was claimed off waivers from the Chicago Cubs on Oct. 29, was non-tendered by the White Sox on Wednesday. The 24-year-old spent most of the 2015 season on the disabled list with a strained flexor tendon in his right elbow.

During parts of four major league seasons, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound Turner was 11-25 with a 4.97 ERA, recording 192 strikeouts in 61 games (51 starts). In addition to pitching for the Cubs, he has also appeared in the major leagues with the Detroit Tigers and Miami Marlins.
